Help us deliver SAR programs throughout Washington State
Donations to WA SARVAC are used to further development of standard training modules and to create new instructors. This directly means your dollars directly impacts the safety of searchers in our state and our ability to find people faster, saving more lives.
SARVAC Donation Update - August 2015
SARVAC is extremely pleased to announce that we have received two substantial donations from Thurston Search and Rescue. These eight thousand dollar donations will allow SARVAC to move forward with several new and needed training programs. These donations will also allow us to try a new program to support attendance at training programs for Washington search and rescue volunteers.
This coming fall and winter SARVAC is going to provide several training sessions across the state. We plan to try and offer training in several areas around the state. We are currently looking at the following areas:
- Longview or Vancouver
- Walla Walla
These trainings will be focused in the following areas of specialty:
- Grant Writing
- Fund Raising
- ICS and How It Works with SAR
- Risk Management – Green/Amber/Red
The second program is a reimbursement program to assist volunteers in paying for conference registration fees. SARVAC is planning to offer support to volunteers who plan to attend a training program. The current plan is to provide 50% support up to $200.00. We are in the process of creating the program and more information will be available in the fall of 2015.
SARVAC would not be able to make these programs and trainings available without the generous support from Thurston Search and Rescue. SARVAC hopes other counties will consider donating to SARVAC to help the Washington State SAR Community grow and develop.
