The mission of the Washington State Search and Rescue Volunteer Advisory Council (SARVAC) is to provide a forum and an organization for volunteers to provide input and to assist in providing input on issues directly affecting the search and rescue (SAR) volunteers. It is also the mission to assist in providing training for volunteers in new methods and procedures in search and rescue as well as current methods and procedures.

The Washington State Search and Rescue Volunteer Advisory Council (SARVAC) is made up of representatives from counties within Washington State.  In partnership with the Washington State Search and Rescue Coordinators Association (WSSARCA) and Washington State Emergency Management SARVAC has been working on standardizing SAR training across Washington State.

2011 SAR Conference

Thank you Cowlitz County Sherriff's Office and Cowlitz County Search and Rescue for sponsoring the 42nd Washington State Search and Rescue Conference.  This years conference is being held in Longview, WA on May 20th - 22nd, 2011.  Through a collaborative effort between the Washington State Search and Rescue Coordinators Association (WASSARCA), the Washington State Search and Rescue Coordinator, the Cowlitz County Sherriff's Office and the Search and Rescue Volunteer Advisory Council (SARVAC) this years conference will be organized by "tracks" and will be a mixture of classroom and field exercises designed to enhance existing skills and develop new SAR Skills, more information is available at the 2011 Washington State SAR Conference Website by clicking here: 2011 SAR Conference
